Description

The very famous monument of of abu simbel in southern Egypt, a temple and warning gate to Nubia of the Pharaoh Ramesses II, rediscovered by the equally famous JL Burckhardt in 1817.

Tour guides at the site relate the legend that "Abu Simbel" was a young local boy who guided these early re-discoverers to the site of the buried temple which he had seen from time to time in the shifting sands. Eventually, they named the complex after him.

Im very proud of the fact that this is the deepest i have ever been in the African continent :) fingers crossed i will be able to go even deeper one day.
