Bosra,Syria: The amazing thing about this Ancient city is that it is packed with history, not just content with having the worlds most perfectly preserved and intact Roman theatre, it also houses the only surviving mosque from the beginnings of Islam; the mosque of Omar still holds its original facades, built using the materials from the original Roman/Byzantine city, its columns still remain in place. And many bear inscriptions in Greek, Latin or Nabatean (some of the pillars are rose colored stone originating from Petra). Still not happy with its impressive holdings, Bosras famous theater is concealed by a 13th century Ayyubid fortress which has protected it throughout the centuries.
I also forgot to mention that this is the city where St. George was Martyred.
Quite strange how a city with this kind of history is a small town instead of a great city
The city of bosra is only 10 minuted away from the jordanian border, wich would make it a good 50km away from the Jordanian black stoned "Umm al Jimal" [link] & [link]
BTW This was my first attempt at fixing a picture using photoshop, so bear with me, I promise to improve!
I think ill add that info now!
