Chefchaouen: Blue as the Sky

Description

The Wonderful Wonderful town of Chefchaouen (abbreviated Chaouen), in Morocco, also known as the blue city because of its brightly coloured doorways and white washed walls!

I loved this place so much! just wondering through its white corridors gives an uplifting feeling! of course the cool mountain breeze and the cloudless sky helped as well :)

I look forward to uploading many more shots of this place :)

one thing to note, the town sits at the corner of the rif mountains and is where a large portion of Morocco's marijuana producers are! so we found it quite surprising how many people we encountered tried to sell us weed! cab drivers, waiters, pedestrians, even shop owners ! apparently the the password is "Ali Baba".

I find this shot really difficult to critique. It sort of assaults the senses (in a good way) and so I don't really know where to start.

The first thing that jumps out is the colour. So vibrant and so full of contrasts. Against all of that blue, the foreground oranges and reds just pop out like crazy. It's an awesome effect.

The lines in the shot go everywhere. There's no real focal point, and I love it for that. Morocco is just about as crazy as places get, and with all of the zigzagging lines, horizontals and verticals, you've managed to instil a sense of chaos into what would be an otherwise typical, inexciting scene.

If I were to make one suggestion, I'd say that the cropping could be a little tighter - the blue at the top works well, but I'm not sure you need quite so much of it.

Anyway, awesome shot and it really stood out when it dropped into my watched deviations. Fantastic.
