Dead City Doorways

scattered in the northern part of Syria are around 700 abandoned 5th century byzantine cities, known as the dead cities, the one you see here is known as Serjillia.

Its is not really known why they were abandoned, some theories range from earthquakes, famine, altered trade routes, to invasions, but no one can really can give us a definite answer.
