Here you see one of the many Medieval streets of Aleppo.
Aleppo vies for the title of worlds oldest inhabited city alongside Damascus. it is said that wondering the old streets of Aleppo is the closest thing you can get to seeing an old Arab city, apparently 80% of Aleppo's old monuments are still inside its old walls while in Damascus only 20% still remain, even though both are designated as UNESCO world heritage sights.
Many cities go though Urban renewal phases, usually because money begins to flow through the city through trade and immigration, this phase did not occur for Aleppo, which came under Ottoman control just after the crusades, the result of which has given us a truly beautiful taste of the past.
