Artist's Comments

This shot was taken in the the capital city of Rabat , in the Roman/Merenid Citadel of Chellah.

Inside the Citadel is a building known as the sanctuary; inclues an Islamic school, a mosque and a royal burial ground for the Merenids.

The line of stone on the floor is a grave, you can see two more on the right hand side.

I have come to realise that I have a problem.... I'm addicted to doorways and arches!!

I just cant help myself! of course I realised this after I got back from Morocco! about 60% of my photographs have either a doorway or an arch in it!

I'm trying my best to change and take pictures of other things but I subconsciously go back to my old self!

That is a very charming photo. I really like the weathered look.

Maybe doorways and arches are your thing. ;) You could always try different angles if you want some variations.

Thank you very much! I actually try to do variations and alternative photography but its this is what comes out best! I really want to do photojournalistic photography but I'm too....nervous(for the lack of a better word) to deal with people!

sounds like wanting to be a doctor but being afraid of blood :)

I had no idea that one have to deal with people being a photojournalist. Although it depends on what you mean with "dealing" with them. I thought photojournalists were usually trying to stay as invisible as they can to be able to take photos without full attention or awareness of people. Silly me! =P
I think I know what you mean about being nervous but that's stuff that you'll get over with after a while. At least I did when I worked as a florist. Customer contact is a pain in the neck. :XD:

There's always something mysterious and alluring about doorways and arches...especially in a photograph. As a child I've always fantasized about what may lie beyond the threshold if it's not what I can see before me. I'm always looking forward to your photos.

Oh, as mentioned above, perhaps working with varying angles will elicit a new perspective on how one may feel towards it?

Admiration is far from comprehension.

Stunning. I could look at this forever, there's so much there to look at. Fantastic shot!

I absolutely love them, I would fill my gallery full of shots if I could but then I figure it wouldn't be interesting, so I try to keep it on the low(kind of like keeping the craziness inside :) )

as for varying angles, I really want to start shooting people as in try a completely new thing and overcome my unsociability!

you try to be invisible but you never know what a persons reaction maybe when you take their picture, from personal experience its usually been annoyance and I dislike that.

although the professionals/famous photographers say that people sometimes drag them to have their picture taken! but that has not happened to me yet(with adults in anycase).
